Since graduating in architecture in 1996 Andreas is involved the execution of prestigious façade projects mainly in Asia. His first project was with seele in 1997, the Shanghai Grand Theatre, at the time a cutting edge cable-truss construction. Between 2000 to 2006 Andreas held different leading positions in the façade- and glass-industry in Germany.

From 2007 until 2015, first as Technical Director then as Managing Director, he was responsible for Schueco’s South East Asia operations. In this position he was primarily looking into aluminium curtain wall-, window- and door-systems. He was involved in a wide range of different projects in the region from governmental projects as parliament buildings and museums, over high-rise office towers to private residential.

In 2015 Andreas returned to seele and is now responsible for the South East Asian and Australian markets. Some highlights by seele in Asia are several cutting edge flagship stores for one of seele’s key customers, the gridshell roof of the Chadstone Shopping Center in Melbourne, the Luxury Façades and Wisdom Hall on IconSiam in Bangkok and the Brisbane New Performing Arts Venue.

Anne-Laure Chappat is a chartered façade engineer and architect with over a decade of international experience in building envelope design and performance. She holds a combined Master’s degree in Civil Engineering and Architecture that she obtained in Paris, France, where she began her career before relocating to Australia in 2015.

Throughout her career, Anne-Laure has contributed to a diverse range of projects across France, Europe, and Australia, bringing a unique multidisciplinary perspective that bridges architectural creativity and engineering precision. Her experience spans all stages of the façade design and construction process—from early concept development and detailed system design to diagnostics of existing façades, specification, tendering, and review of subcontractor designs and installations.

Anne-Laure’s particular strengths lie in detailed façade system design, thermal assessment, and energy modelling. Chartered in both mechanical and structural engineering, she combines deep technical expertise with a design-led mindset to deliver innovative, high-performing, and sustainable façade solutions.

After spending 10 years refining her expertise at BG&E, Anne-Laure joined Meinhardt, where she now plays a leading role in supporting and developing the firm’s Facades Team. She is passionate about advancing façade design as a discipline that harmonises performance, sustainability, and aesthetics—creating building envelopes that respond intelligently to both climate and context. Her design approach focuses on bridging architecture and engineering to create façades that are both beautiful, robust and sustainable.

Ms. Candice Zhao has 10 years of experience in engineering glass processing industry. She has been engaged in the management and execution of overseas projects, especially HK market. Her recent projects include Taikoo Place 2A & 2B in HK, West Kowloon Station Commercial Building in HK, KIA headquarter in Korea, Chicago Mercantile Exchange Building in USA, etc.

Elissa leads the Inhabit team in Melbourne across the specialist services of new build façade design including engineering, documentation and procurement, diagnostics and remedial solutions as well as ESD and acoustics. She is well known for her facade design skills and delivery across a variety of high-profile projects across all market sectors within the Victorian region.

With a formal background in architecture and construction management, she works with a collaborative approach with project teams. She has extensive project management experience and an astute commercial acumen in the areas of project design, coordination, contracting and client management.

Elissa has an extensive understanding of façade waterproofing and how façade systems are influenced by structural, mechanical, energy, thermal, daylighting, acoustic and fire considerations and how they affect the façade design outcome. Her in-depth knowledge of both the local façade market, as well as the capabilities of international players offers insight into the intricacies of façade procurement and delivery from a cost and carbon perspective. She uses this knowledge to convey understanding to project teams throughout the design process.

She is an advocate for the Façade Engineering profession and is working with many likeminded industry professionals to progress the industry in her role as Vice Chair for the Society of Façade Engineering ANZ Hub.

Mr. Fan Lee is the founder of Anometal Aluminum Co., Ltd. who has profound expertise in the industry of pre-treated aluminium. Anometal masters the core technology of continuous anodising and has three automatic continuous pre-anodising lines nowadays. With 28 years' experience in the industry, Anometal has grown a product portfolio that includes architecture, solar energy, automobiles, optical lighting, consumer electronics, home appliances, surface decoration, MCCL and cosmetic containers.

Entering the architecture industry hence, Anometal has been working closely with Ateliers Jean Nouvel, CallisonRTKL, UNStudio, SOM, KPF, gmp, Ennead, SHL and almost all well-known design firms; meanwhile, Anometal is also the high-quality supplier of a battery of prominent developers.

Gareth Winstanley is an experienced structural and façade engineer with more than 25 years of international experience across the Asia, the Middle East, Australia, and New Zealand. Specialising in structural glass, tension and cable structures, curtain wall systems, architectural stone and cladding remediation, he has led the design and delivery of a wide range of complex façade solutions for commercial, civic, and high-performance buildings.

Gareth’s work is grounded in a deep understanding of Australian statutory regulations and compliance frameworks, particularly those influencing façade design and building performance. Recently, Gareth has been actively engaged in industry consultation around the NSW Design and Building Practitioners Act (DBPA), participating in roundtable discussions and ongoing dialogue with the NSW Building Commission. His experience and insight into regulatory reform, design practitioner obligations, and risk management have positioned him as a valued contributor to industry conversations and a selected panellist for this conference.

Jesse Clarke is a building science specialist at Pro Clima, dedicated to advancing high-performance, energy-efficient construction across Australia and New Zealand. With a deep understanding of hygrothermal behaviour, airtightness, and weather protection systems, Jesse works closely with architects, builders, and consultants to deliver durable, healthy, and low-energy buildings. He is known for translating complex technical concepts into practical, on-site solutions and providing industry leadership through training, research, and technical guidance. Passionate about better building outcomes, Jesse advocates for evidence-based design and continuous improvement within the construction sector.

Johan Hermijanto is a Studio Director at Bates Smart in Melbourne, where he leads the design of a wide range of architectural projects. With two decades of experience, Johan focuses on shaping the conceptual direction of projects and defining how form, façade and performance integrate to create coherent, thoughtful and enduring architectural outcomes.

Since joining Bates Smart in 2013, he has contributed to projects across commercial, residential, mixed-use and health typologies. Johan is motivated by the interplay between design ambition, material expression and technological innovation, and has a strong interest in crafting design solutions that enrich the city and contribute meaningfully to its long-term evolution.

Beyond practice, Johan remains actively engaged with the University of Melbourne, Deakin University, Swinburne University of Technology and RMIT University, contributing to architectural education and advancing discourse within the profession.

Born in Canada, John Czechowski obtained his Architecture degree from the University of Toronto in 1991. A four-month study abroad term in Florence in 1988 and a four-month sojourn to Paris in 1991 were pivotal experiences shaping an understanding of urbanism, placemaking and Architecture as craft.

Upon his arrival in Australia in 1996 and with over 30 years’ professional experience, John has demonstrated expertise across typologies including industrial design, bridge infrastructure, commercial, retail, education, master planning, mixed-use, public, high rise residential, hotel, rail and stadia.

John is passionate about projects involving a high degree of technical and functional complexity and his strength in design and management are evident from concept design to delivery. His detailed design skill, technical expertise and flexible thinking contribute to exemplary urban realm and built form.

Intensely curious, his focus on the craft of building, material and structural expression, spatial experience and the play of light and shadow seeks to contribute positively to human experience. With his humanist focus, John’s primary motivation is to create beauty in the world. His belief that refined qualities of space, place and setting are intrinsic to optimising human perception, behaviour and community. Michael’s focus is on innovation, strategy, market, channel and product development for the Australian commercial facades segment, concentrating on the development of the AZURE® Façade System.

Prior to BlueScope, Michael has extensive experience within technical design, fabrication, supply, installation and launch-to-market various facade solutions for leading global companies from Europe, North America and Asia into Australian architectural construction projects, creating solutions in ventilated facade material in steel, aluminium, porcelain, terracotta, engineered stone, cementitious and composite metal/wood laminated façade panels.

Oliver has been with BG&E façades since 2007 and has over 20 years’ experience in the construction industry, working with world renowned architects, developers and leading construction companies.

As a Director of BG&E Façades, he continues to be hands-on and fully involved in projects from the Concept Design through to Construction and Completion His expertise extend to a wide range of building projects including major hospitals, high rise office and residential buildings.

Oliver’s role is to develop the façades group capabilities and to grow the local and international markets. He also brings international experience from Asia and the Middle East. His main focus is to deliver projects at the highest quality, on time and within budget.

Paresh Dave has been a Sales and Specification Manger – Inside sales at EQUITONE since 2021.

He currently looks after architects and specifiers in New Zealand and Australia (WA, SA, QLD & TAS).

Paresh has a proven track record of 15+ years assisting architects and their projects through conducting CPD’s and product presentations. He strives to support specifiers and their projects at every stage. Actively participating in industry events is what he loves.

Rob leads the Arup façade team in Victoria. Educated and practicing for many years in iIndustrial design, Rob brings a holistic approach to façade engineering built on 20 years within the industry with a specialist façade contractor before becoming a consultant for the last 10 years. Rob has delivered many different projects of various sizes across the world, ranging from Hi-spec Facades to private homes to world cup stadiums and most building types in between. His passion is low energy building design and using a dynamic façade to modulate the internal comfort.

Rob has recently moved to Melbourne from the UK and this gives him an understanding of how the UK/European is currently approaching the challenge of climate change by improving the façade performance whilst managing the embodied carbon required to build the façade.

Tom leads the Sydney studio of Eckersley O’Callaghan (EOC) having previously worked as part of their London facades team. With a background in architecture and environmental design Tom embodies the integrated design and environmental performance central to EOCs engineering philosophy. Tom has experience delivering technically challenging designs for a wide range of complex projects.

Originally established to manage the Atlassian Central project EOC Sydney provides the same 50-50 split of facades and structures with a focus on design excellence, architectural collaboration, and environmental efficiency. Now with a wide range of projects in NSW, Qld, Vic and WA, Tom manages an Australian team while leveraging the global expertise of the EOC group.

Vera is an Associate at Rickard Engineering with over 5 years of experience in designing and delivering façades since graduating from a Bachelor of Engineering (with Architecture) from UNSW.

Over this time, she has worked with architects, builders, suppliers and other industry consultants in a wide range of projects across Australia, from curtain wall commercial towers, large multi-residential developments and small-scale bespoke façade solutions.

Vera specialises in façade waterproofing and structural design but is passionate about consulting on designs holistically to achieve the architect’s vision with consideration for the constructability. She has also been heavily involved in recent NSW residential projects and since the introduction of the Design and Building Practitioner’s Act came into effect she has been involved in the design and delivery of several projects, most notably an eight-story development of approximately 5,600 square metres of façade area involving twenty different façade types and features.

Viggo is Design Director and Partner at Henning Larsen, market and design responsible for APAC with a particular focus on Australia.

Having established several projects in Australia, Viggo is instrumental in Henning Larsen’s success in Australia and in setting up the new office in Sydney. In his role, Viggo facilitates collaboration within the global Henning Larsen design community, and he works with Australian partners and clients to create innovative solutions that will shape the practice’s life-centric approach to the built environment.

With over 15 years of experience, Viggo has a broad global perspective, and he oversees projects of many typologies, including cultural institutions, office buildings, and higher education projects across Europe, Asia, and Australia. His ability to lead clear concepts and subsequent project processes with an understanding of the local context has been at the root of many significant contributions to Henning Larsen’s international portfolio.

Recently, Viggo led the winning proposal for the Canberra Theatre Centre, the new home for Australia’s capital of culture. He is also the partner in charge of Sydney’s city-shaping mixed-use waterfront development, now called Lighthouse at Darling Park, and a biophilic high-rise in the heart of Brisbane’s CBD.

Viggo’s contributions to the design of the award-winning SDU Campus Kolding, featuring a dynamic, climate-responsive façade, resulted in one of the world’s first low-energy universities. Campus Kolding serves as an inspiration for Henning Larsen’s work on educational buildings around the world.
